The Made Up Trait

One of the first features someone notices about another person is their race. Race is a socially constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits that members of a society consider important. The fact is, race is not something that should be looked at and used to judge someone. Sadly, in today's society that is the first thing someone does. The reason people do this is because of a subconscious trait we all possess that has been built into our brains. Not because someone is racist, it is just the way we have been raised to think. Of course there are some exceptions. Not every single human being thinks this way but that is how the majority do think. Now is this a bad thing? Yes and no. It is a bad thing because we immediately assume and judge someone because of their race. We assume that the Asian man in math class is going to get a good grade in the class. In reality, that is just a big guess. He could get the worst because he never studies and does not care about his grades. In order to judge someone you have to know their character traits and not physical traits. Ethnicity is one of those character traits. Ethnicity is a shared cultural heritage. Someone’s ethnicity is a much better way to know someone’s character traits. This is because this would tell you in what setting the person was raised. The setting in which a person is raised effects the outcome of a person rather than the color of someone’s skin. In most places around the world there are a smaller group of people with the same ethnicity. These smaller groups are called the minority. These minorities are often outcasted because of their race even though they only share the same ethnicity.
